Just like most moms sending their firstborn to college, Angelina Jolie has bittersweet feelings. Despite all the rumors that she’s feeling sad about sending Maddox to college and becoming clingy to her other children, Jolie herself now said she is very proud of her eldest. She, of course, did not hide the fact that there was some massive adjustment on her part too after this development.

The “Maleficent” actress recently made headlines, but not for any scandal. She just showed how normal of a mom she can be when she personally brought her eldest Maddox at Yonsei University in South Korea, where he will be studying. A-list actress or not, she just showed emotions millions of moms all over the world feel when they drop off their children to college. It was apparent that she was keeping herself from crying and it was admirable to see.

Now that some time has passed, Jolie joined her “Maleficent: Mistress of Evil” co-stars Michelle Pfeffer and Elle Fanning at a press day and talked with ET’s Nischelle Tuner to promote the upcoming Disney movie. During the interview, Jolie was asked to relay her own experience with regard to the underlying theme of the movie - children growing up to finally be their own persons.

"I just sent one off… I'm so proud of him," Jolie said of her 18-year-old son, Maddox. "I'm so excited, I feel like my world expands as their world expands. I learn so much from them and I love this stage." She said Maddox was so ready for this stage, so she thinks that this made the experience quite unique for her.

Other kids going into this new stage of their lives will have jitters, which can make their parents even more emotional.

Pfeiffer then shared her own experience with seeing her kids grow up to be independent. "It's a push and pull, because I do think a part of you feels like you're losing literally a part of your body, but you know, at the same time, what you really want for your children is for them to be incredibly independent," Pfeiffer shared. "So you've succeeded in doing what you set out to do, so you're incredibly proud, but it's hard to make that separation. For me, it was challenging."

In another interview with Extra TV, Jolie also said that she had an easier time caring for her kids and letting them be independent than Maleficent. “I think I have an easier time than Maleficent... It's very hard for her... She just really doesn't trust humans,” she explained.
