Season 2 of the CW series "Arrow" returns tonight at 8pm EST for Episode 4, directed by Eagle Egilsson and written by Andrew Kreisberg and Wendy Mericle. In tonight's episode, entitled "Crucible", Green Arrow - or "Arrow", for the purposes of the series - will finally meet Black Canary - or "Canary". A preview video has been issued by the show's creators, and is available below. Scroll down and hit the link to watch as Arrow comes face to face with the Canary and demands to know who she is.
The CW has also released a synopsis of tonight's episode. In it, according to TV Equals, "Oliver (Stephen Amell) discovers a man who goes by the name 'The Mayor' (guest star Cle Bennett) is bringing illegal guns in to The Glades, so Oliver sponsors a 'Cash for Guns' event to help clean up the city. Unfortunately, The Mayor crashes the event with his gang and seriously injures Sin (guest star Bex Taylor-Klaus). The Canary (Caity Lotz) is furious when she learns her friend is in the hospital and sets out for revenge. Meanwhile, Felicity (Emily Bett Rickards) stuns Oliver with a bit of information about the Canary, Donner (guest star Dylan Bruce) asks Laurel (Katie Cassidy) to dinner, and Diggle (David Ramsey) reconnects with an old friend."
Executive producer Andrew Kreisberg had told TV Guide a few weeks ago that the mystery of the Black Canary's identity would soon be revealed, though we're not sure if it'll happen in tonight's episode or not. Fans of the comic book will probably be familiar with Laurel's alter-ego in the DC Universe, which has led some to ask themselves how the two could be separate people in the show. Kreisberg said that the two characters will appear face to face "sooner than people realize. We have a really great story arc for the Black Canary and Laurel that we're super excited for people to jump on board that ride, because it's really just the beginning." He added, "The show is about Green Arrow, but the Oliver that we met in the pilot wasn't anywhere near being the Green Arrow, and still isn't. And the same with Black Canary. So it's really the beginning of the Black Canary story, and she will begin to emerge as the season progresses."
