George Barris' Batmobile will be up for auction for January's Barrett-Jackson in Scottsdale, Arizona. Historics at Brooklands

Holy classic car speculations, Batman! The Barrett-Jackson annual Scottsdale auction is held this weekend and the star of the event will be the Batmobile used in the original Batman TV show that starred legendary actor Adam West.

The remarkable automobile was built and owned by the renowned George Barris, the mastermind behind a number of Hollywood icons including the Drag-U-La from "The Munsters" as well as the 1921 Oldsmobile from "The Beverly Hillbillies." According to lore, it took Barris just 15 days and $15,000 to transform a 1955 Lincoln Futura into the stunning double-bubble jet canopy Batmobile the world has grown to adore.

Now a priceless icon, experts at Barrett-Jackson believe the one-of-a-kind superhero car can demand as much as $5 million this weekend.

So far, the likeliest bidders for the vehicle are museums or movie companies with links to the Batman franchise, which was created and owned by DC Comics.

The Barrett-Jackson auction is an incredible event known that's known for the sheer number of outrageously expensive collectable cars that are available for sale. Not too long ago, Barrett-Jackson also announced the auction of a magnificent Mercedes-Benz 300SL Gullwing that was once owned by Hollywood royalty, Clark Gable.
