“Batwoman” season 2 is set to debut and there will be a lot of adjustments needed for viewers of the show. Most know that there will be a new lead character in Javicia Leslie who will take over from Ruby Rose.

Rose begged off after the first season and such had initially put “Batwoman” on uneven ground. But it appears showrunners have managed to figure it out and cast Leslie who is no stranger to shows.

Before being named the successor of Rose, Leslie had appeared in several films and TV shows such as “God Befriended Me” and “The Family Business.” In 2019 she was also part of the movie “Always a Bridesmaid.”

Leslie will also be the first black actress to play the role of “Batwoman” on television. She admitted that she is extremely proud of the honor and also loves the character of Ryan Wilder, the new “Batwoman’s” alter ego.

"I am extremely proud to be the first Black actress to play the iconic role of Batwoman on television, and as a bisexual woman, I am honored to join this groundbreaking show, which has been such a trailblazer for the LGBTQ+ community," Leslie said in a statement.

The latest “Batwoman” poster came out showing off the new look of the caped-crime fighter. She will have a different persona from Kate Kane, described as a little goofy and untamed but someone deadly. Wilder is someone highly trained and a dangerous type of fighter.

The inaugural episode will focus on the transition to a new “Batwoman.” Wilder is a former drug dealer who is trying to pay back the debt owed to citizens of Gotham City. It all starts when she makes her own “Batwoman” costume and later on realizes the power of its symbol.

There will be some iterations compared to the one that Rose wore. For one, the red wig has been scrapped while the new body design and cowl look pretty awesome.

In the trailer, most saw Leslie sporting curly hair. But it appears all that has been addressed with the official poster for “Batwoman.”

“Batwoman” Season 2 premieres on Jan. 17 on The CW.
