Senator Kamala Harris, who has been selected as the Democratic nominee for vice president, said on Wednesday that the Biden administration if formed, will offer “unwavering support for Israel,” while preventing Iran from obtaining a nuclear weapon.

Harris told a virtual fundraiser on Wednesday, Aug. 26, that she fully agrees with Joe Biden’s decision to not tie security assistance to any political decisions made by Israel.

"I pledge to you the Biden-Harris administration will sustain our unbreakable commitment to Israel's security, including the unprecedented military and intelligence cooperation pioneered during the Obama-Biden administration and the guarantee that Israel will always maintain its qualitative military edge," she said.

Harris called the signing of the 2016 memo for $38 billion in defense assistance “the largest military aid package in U.S. history.”

She was asked how Biden's administration plans to protect Israel from Iran after President Donald Trump withdraws from a contentious nuclear agreement with Iran.

"Let me be clear, we will not allow Iran to obtain a nuclear weapon. Period. We will continue to ensure that Israel has the unbreakable support of the United States,” she said.

Earlier, former President Barack Obama had come up with a nuclear deal that intended to stop Iran from developing a nuclear weapon. However, it was heavily criticized and Trump scraped it.

Harris said that Iran had been becoming more provocative and is stepping up its nuclear activities and therefore, the Biden administration will prevent that from happening.
