It’s award season and we’re loving it! And after a lack of anything Latino in the major movie and TV events, and being sent to the pre-show at the Grammys, we’re finally approaching one of our favorite award shows, the Latin Billboard! The nominees were announced today, and we’re not shocked at all that Romeo Santos swept the most nominations, nabbing 17. Following the impressive score, Prince Royce with 16 and Marc Anthony with 15.
Both the King and Prince of Bachata will be competing in almost the same nominations, and we know for sure one of them doesn’t see the other one as a competition, but more like an honor. Prince Royce sat down with Latin Times last week and we asked him about being bachata royalty along with Romeo, to which he replied that they’re good friends and “it’s all love and respect.”
"Romeo is great, he’s a good friend of mine and he’s done a great job with music and Bachata in general. It’s hard to get a hit, and it’s even harder to maintain 10 years, 15 years making hits. And I think that’s something he’s done, and I admire him. It’s all love and respect. I don’t see him as competition. It’s an honor for me to be compared to him or be in the same nominations with him, you know? But we’re good friends and I wish him the best of luck, I think he’s been doing a great job."
Also finalists for the 2014 Billboard Latin Music Awards are the late Jenni Rivera, sweeping 11 nominations this year, Daddy Yankee, Enrique Iglesias, Gerardo Ortiz, Christina Aguilera, and more. The award show will be broadcasted live on Telemundo on April 24, 2014. Check the full list of nominees below!
