When Jon Bon Jovi is one of the guests at your wedding, it only makes sense that he sings one of his hits. Singer Lourdes Valentin, who was hired to entertain invitees at the reception, already knew the famous rocker was attending the event, so she took advantage of the situation and prepared the 1986 hit “Livin’ On A Prayer” in a more subdued, jazzy version of the song.

According to The Associated Press, Valentin met with Bon Jovi before the party, when he told her he didn’t think he wanted to sing, but to everyone’s surprise, halfway through the song, he took the mic and got up on the stage.

The wedding took place last weekend in Miami, and in the video, posted on YouTube by Cool Coconut Studios, you see all the attendees excited about Bon Jovi’s impromptu performance and trying to catch every moment of it with their phones.

He opted for a smoother delivery to match the jazz arrangement, which matched the style and the solo by a trumpet player, filling in for the song’s electric guitar riff. Valentin later revealed that she was “very surprised” when he decided to “grace us with his talent.”

According to her website, Valentin is a Puerto Rican-American who was born in New York City and later relocated with her family to Puerto Rico. Growing up in both environments gave her an eclectic mix of musical awareness that inspired her to become the “insatiable, talented artist she is today.”

She currently lives in South Florida, where she’s making her mark in the music scenes with her performances and a vast vocal range, that crosses over from Jazz, Blues, Swing, Classical, Broadway tunes, Latin to Modern Day Pop.

Her sensual and heart-warming tone and technique have audiences falling for her, and it sure made Bon Jovi change his mind and join her even when he had said no in the first place. Watch the video for a performance that is sure going to make you smile!
