Brad Pitt missed the 73rd British Academy Film Awards that took place on Feb. 3 at the Royal Albert Hall, London in the United Kingdom. However, it was revealed that even if he won an award there, he did not regret not being present to personally receive his trophy.

According to the Hollywood Life, it was all worth it when Brad was not able to attend because he missed the event because of family. Based on the report, the actor’s 18-year-old son, Maddox Jolie-Pitt, reached out to him first and at that moment, he immediately dropped everything and canceled his schedule to reunite with his son.

Brad Pitt won the Best Supporting Award at the 2020 BAFTA for his role in “Once Upon A Time In Hollywood” but he has a good excuse not to be in the event hall that night. The 56-year-old actor reportedly cited “family obligation” for his non-attendance so it was Margot Robbie who received the award on his behalf.

“Maddox gave Brad the chance to talk and he dropped everything,” the insider supposedly told The Sun. “Being a father is the most important thing in his life and he would do anything to repair their relationship. His son has been away at university so when Brad found out he was going to be around and they could have a conversation, he canceled the UK trip.”

If true, this is a big progress in healing Brad’s relationship with Maddox who is now a college freshman and studying biochemistry at Yonsei University in South Korea. It can be recalled that they had a falling out while on a plane back in 2016. Their conflict ultimately led to Angelina Jolie and Pitt’s divorce as the latter was accused of being abusive toward Maddox.

Although Brad Pitt was cleared from the allegations after an investigation, his relationship with his eldest son remained fractured. Jolie does not want to interfere with their conflict but she hopes they will patch things up and be a typical father and son again.

“While things with Maddox have been tense, Angelina swore not to interfere with any progress he and Brad made,” the insider said. “She respects that they have their own relationship and is staying out of it. The most important thing to Angelina is that her son knows she fully has his back and supports him.”

Meanwhile, Maddox is said to be wishing to see Brad again. He is not in the U.S. and can only come home during breaks so Angelina Jolie flies to South Korea whenever she can. On the other hand, his dad has yet to visit him there.
