Warner Bros. is reportedly proceeding with its new movie about the Green Lantern, and the actor the studio is keen on casting in the lead role is Bradley Cooper. The studio is said to be in the early stages of finalizing the role, and the discussions with the actor may not have started yet.

A source close to the “Green Lantern Corps” movie project told We Got This Covered that the new Hal Jordan will be a slightly older superhero, and Cooper fits that role perfectly. Tom Cruise was previously considered for playing the DC superhero, but he may have passed the opportunity.

Cooper has already made a name for himself in Hollywood with seven Oscar nominations. He has also leant his voice to Marvel’s “Guardians of the Galaxy” character Rocket Raccoon, which has been well received by the fans. If he signs on for the DC project, it will be his first superhero movie where he will be appearing personally on screen.

Apart from Cooper being perfect to play the next Green Lantern, there is another reason why Warner Bros. is keen on casting him. The star power of the actor is expected to help convince some of the other top talent in Hollywood to join the movie.

The 2011 “Green Lantern” movie starring Ryan Reynolds got mixed reviews. This time around, Warner Bros. wants to get it right with a new actor playing the superhero.

Apart from Hal Jordan, the other big characters who is expected to appear in the film is John Stewart. One name that repeatedly comes up for this role is “The Dark Knight” actor Michael Jai White.

White too appears to be keen to join the DC Cinematic Universe as John Stewart. The actor recently took to Instagram to share a fan art of him as the character, and to confirm that he would welcome the idea of joining “Green Lantern Corps.”
