James Harden is on break and it is only normal to find the Brooklyn Nets start in some parts of the world. The former NBA MVP was with Lil Baby and a bodyguard in Paris on Thursday evening. However, he was not in the vehicle of the rapper after it was stopped by police when they smelled cannabis.

The 31-year-old NBA star was talking to friends when the car of Lil Baby was pulled over. Harden tried to intervene but ended up being briefly detained.

Harden was frisked as a result of the incident but was not arrested. However, Lil Baby and his bodyguard were brought into the custody of Paris police for transportation of drugs. Both were fined for the incident but the actual amount was not divulged.

Harden and Lil Baby were in Paris for fashion week. Images of both at the French capital made their rounds on social media.

Per a report from the Associated Press, authorities found more than 20 grams of cannabis, a substance that is illegal in France. One person was detained although it remains unclear who it was. But most suspect that it is the rapper’s bodyguard. An investigation into the matter is underway.

Lil Baby was already released and posted the following on his Instagram account: “I’m Good” and said that was heading back to the U.S.”

Efforts were made to get statements from the Brooklyn Nets and the Universal Music Group. Both camps did not respond to requests for comment on the matter.

Harden was originally supposed to be in Las Vegas this week to train with Team USA preparing for the Olympics. But a hamstring strain forced him out of contention with the injury sorely affecting his game. This showed when he tried to play through the injury for the Nets against the Milwaukee Bucks.
