A local community in Scotland has been left in shock after the gruesome remains of a burnt human body was found in a Glasgow park on Wednesday, Aug. 4.

Officers found the unidentified burnt human remains in Househill Park at Pollok, Glasgow on Wednesday morning. The unidentified victim has gotten investigators scrambling for answers, cordoning a significant portion of the park for forensic investigations, according to Glasgow Live.

The police were first alerted early Wednesday morning at 7:35 a.m. of a fire inside Househill Park. While the park grounds itself remains intact, authorities would later discover charred remains in the area, the BBC reported.

“This death is being treated as unexplained and extensive enquiries are ongoing,” the Police Scotland said in a statement. Police officers are going door-to-door in order to find out more information about the body and the incident.

A source told the Scotsman that “the remains [were] very badly burnt. It could be days before there are answers about who this person is and what has happened to them.”

This incident has worried the community, with many people anxious to find out who the person is and whether he was killed or not.

One person residing in the neighborhood claimed that they smelled burning in the park a full hour before the body was discovered, saying “I was leaving for work at about 6.30 a.m. and I could smell burning. I didn't see anything, so I didn't think anything of it.”

Another person in the neighborhood related that they were able to smell the flames when they opened the window of their house as early as the evening before, saying “I smelt a fire when I was letting my dogs out around 11 p.m. last night and then again this morning.”

Many residents are scrambling to feel safe and secure in the neighborhood as the unexplained body is investigated by the police.

“It isn't the most quiet place round here but we've never had anything like this,” one neighbor told the press. “It's shocking, that poor person. People will be on edge until we know what went on and someone is caught.”
