Jose Baez, the lawyer famous for getting Casey Anthony a not guilty verdict in her 2011 murder trial will be representing one of the girls accused of bullying a 12-year-old to death. Rebecca Ann Sedwick was a 12-year-old Florida girl who was tormented regularly by classmates. Sedwick was bullied both in person and via Facebook until she finally could not take it anymore. On September 10, 2013 Rebecca Ann Sedwick took her own life when she jumped from a high platform at an abandoned cement plant.

A total of 15 girls are believed to have been tormenting Sedwick, two of the 15 were arrested. Guadalupe Shaw, 14 and Katelyn Roman, 12 were both arrested in connection with the cyberbullying that led to Sedwick's suicide. The older girl, Guadalupe Shaw is said to have instigated the bullying after Shaw began dating a boy Sedwick had once gone out with. Shaw also recently posted a status on Facebook admitting that she bullied Sedwick and that she does not care the girl took her own life.

Jose Baez will represent the younger of the two Florida girls accused of cyber bullying, Katelyn Roman. The two girls have been brought up on aggravated stalking charges and the Sherriff is looking to add more charges and even charge the girls' parents if at all possible. According to the Orlando Sentinel, Roman and Sedwick were once friends. Shaw was able to successfully turn Roman against Sedwick and get her to bully her one time friend. One of the messages Sedwick received online told her to, "drink bleach and die."

The Roman family approached Baez and asked him to take on the case. Several news outlets attempted to contact Mr. Baez for comment but his office said he was spending the day getting to know his new client. Tricia Norman, Sedwick's mother retained attorney David Henry to represent her family and her late daughter's interests while the case against the two accused bullies moves forward. Jose Baez gained national recognition when he represented Casey Anthony, the Florida woman accused of killing her two-year-old daughter.

The Casey Anthony trial was at the top of the evening news across the country. The majority of people believed that Casey Anthony was responsible for the death of her daughter. The two-year-old had been missing for 31-days before being reported missing by Anthony's mother. Casey Anthony lied to police on several occasions even naming a woman she had never met in person as her daughter's kidnapper. When Anthony was placed on trial the prosecution had said they would seek the death penalty. Since the prosecution was unable to prove how Anthony's daughter died the jury did not convict, much to the public's outrage.
