Denise Richards and Charlie Sheen might not have been the image of happiness while they were together, but they are being exemplary as exes.

The actor appeared in court on Tuesday to testify on the custody claim of his two sons, with ex-wife Brooke Mueller, Max and Bob. While the 35-year-old fights drug addiction, the boys will stay at Richards' house.

The session happened behind closed doors and is confidential, as Sheen gestured to the media when he exited with Richards.

The 4-year-old twins were removed from Mueller's care last week due to her continuing prescription drug abuse. She had not been living at her home for several weeks and her whereabouts were unknown.

Mueller is currently being treated at UCLA's Medical Center, where she will remain until she is moved into a residential facility.

Richards, who is a good friend of Mueller and has remained in good terms with Sheen throughout, has stepped in to care for the twins, who will move in with her and their half-sisters Sam and Lola.
