Cristiano Ronaldo and other Manchester United players reportedly reached out to the club's board to prioritize the signings of new players.

Erik ten Hag's side appeared to encounter early problems by losing their two opening games of the season. During the Saturday match at the Gtech Community Stadium, Man Utd suffered a 4-0 loss to Brentford. Four first-half goals were executed by Josh Dasilva, Mathias Jensen, Ben Mee and Bryan Mbuemo. The Red Devils also failed to win their opening game with Brighton. The team are now at the bottom of the Premier League table.

Some players appeared to notice the lack of action by the club's management. Five Man Utd senior players, including Cristiano Ronaldo, Harry Maguire, Marcus Rashford, Luke Shaw and Bruno Fernandes, reportedly highlighted the need for new signings before the transfer window ends on Sept. 1. United already lost five of their first-team players – Paul Pogba, Nemanja Matic, Juan Mata, Jesse Lingard and Edinson Cavani.

Man Utd have been actively looking for replacements; so far, the team have signed in three players during this summer's transfer window, including Tyrell Malacia, Christian Eriksen and Lisandro Martinez. While the team seemed to gain positive feedback from Adrien Rabiot's ongoing transfer saga, Man Utd still got no response from Barcelona midfielder Frenkie De Jong. In recent weeks, Philips Sport Vereniging (PSV) player Cody Gakpo and Stuttgart striker Sasa Kalidjzic have also been linked for a transfer.

Other European high-profile teams, including Tottenham, Chelsea and Arsenal, have signed in new players more than United this summer.

Meanwhile, speculations about Ronaldo's transfer continue to emerge. The five-time Ballon d'Or winner could make a move to Atletico Madrid despite being linked to other teams. Diego Simeone is believed to be the only Premier League manager seeming to want the Portuguese footballer. They are reportedly securing funds to ensure CR7's transfer.

Ronaldo previously confirmed his plan to leave Old Trafford to participate in the Champions League. Ronaldo also failed to participate in Man Utd's pre-season tour of Thailand and Australia due to family reasons, which resulted in more rumors about the striker's future.
