Cristiano Ronaldo declined to greet Manchester United fans following their 4-0 defeat to Brentford despite assistant coach Steve McClaren's request, then proceeded to the touchline without shaking hands with Erik ten Hag.

Man Utd failed to execute any points in their Premier League match against The Bees on Saturday at the Gtech Community Stadium. Four first-half goals were made by Josh Dasilva, Mathias Jensen, Ben Mee and Bryan Mbuemo — a momentous win for Brentford.

The Red Devils again suffered a frustrating defeat; newly appointed manager Ten Hag had already lost his opening matches. The former Ajax boss went on to explain what happened in the first half. "It's quite clear," he told beIN Sports. "It's rubbish. It's poor and we need higher standards than that and it's clear."

United are currently at the bottom of the league table after losing their two opening games. "I can bring up several things but that looks like excuses. And that is not there in the top we have to deliver and we didn't do. We have to change that's quite clear we have to start better both games we have to stick to the plan and from the first start we have to switch on and that's what we didn't do." Ten Hag continued, saying, "Pressure is always there I know that I have to analyse and find solutions, that's my job."

Despite the humiliating loss, United fans continued to support the team throughout the game. Most of them decided to stay at the stadium until the game was completed in order to express their understandable disappointment. Several players, including David De Gea, Scott McTominay, Marcus Rashford, Bruno Fernandes, Anthony Elanga, Donny Van de Beek and Diogo Dalot, made time to convey their sincere apologies to the fans.

However, Ronaldo was nowhere to be seen. The 37-year-old reportedly refused to meet the fans after the game despite McClaren insisting he join the other players. The Portuguese footballer then walked past Ten Hag without greeting the manager. Team captain Harry Maguire also declined to acknowledge the fans; he just applauded them from afar before heading down to the tunnel.

Ronaldo has been the center of the media spotlight these past few months after confirming his plan to leave Old Trafford. The legendary forward reportedly wants to play in the Champions League, which he seemingly thinks he cannot do with United due to the team's inconsistent performance.

Meanwhile, Ten Hag has claimed that Ronaldo has not discussed any transfer plan with him. He still firmly believes that the striker is perfectly fit for his goals with United. Ten Hag has continuously shown his desire to keep Ronaldo, "[Ronaldo wanting to leave] is your assumption. That is not what he is telling me," Ten Hag said in a press conference. "In every press conference, we already confirmed that he is in our plans. We plan with him so we also plan around him."
