NFL fans get an AFC West battle on Thursday night as the Denver Broncos and San Diego Chargers collide in a pivotal game.

This is a big game for both teams considering they are both coming off a loss. The Broncos need to get back on track while the Chargers season is likely over with a loss on Thursday. These teams know each other very well, so there shouldn’t much of a surprise factor.

Denver Broncos (4-1)

The Broncos are coming off their first loss of the season, and now it’s time to get back on track. What better way to do that than to face a division rival? All signs point to Trevor Siemian starting at quarterback on Thursday night.

The Broncos have what is widely regarded as the best defense in the league, and you can bet Von Miller is going to be a big factor in this game. Strangely enough, these two squads will face off in two of the next three weeks.

As of now the Broncos are a wild card team with the 4-1 Oakland Raiders leading the AFC West. The Broncos need to win this game and hope the Kansas City Chiefs defeat the Raiders on Sunday.

San Diego Chargers (1-4)

The Chargers find so many ways to disappoint their fans, and they do it in the most painful ways. In excruciating fashion, the Chargers have lost four games by just 14 combined points. The Chargers simply can’t hold fourth quarter leads, and they are falling apart at the worst possible times.

Defensively, the Chargers rank a dreadful 28th overall in points allowed. At 1-4, and now facing the defending Super Bowl champions, it looks like the Chargers are going to miss the playoffs for the sixth time in the last seven seasons.

Philip Rivers can certainly make plays, but it may take some tricky for the Chargers to pull this one out. Special teams is going to play a big factor as well.

Schedule

The Broncos and Chargers will square off on Thursday night at 8:25 p.m. ET at Qualcomm Stadium. The game will be shown on CBS and the NFL Network. You can watch a live game stream here.

Prediction

This game may be closer than most fans anticipate. The Chargers usually give the Broncos a good test, and they are the home team. Regardless, the Broncos have too many talented wide receivers in Demaryius Thomas and Emmanuel Sanders, and their defense always seems to make the game-winning play. The Chargers simply can’t be trusted in the fourth quarter.

Broncos win, 27-20
