Donald Sterling, Clippers owner, has been in the news lately for saying racist comments. Adam Silver, NBA Commissioner, announced today that Sterling has been suspended for life from the Los Angeles Clippers and the NBA. He may not attend games, practices or Clippers facilities. He also may not attend Board of Governors meetings. He is fined $2.5 million, this money will be donated to organizations promoting anti-discrimination. The Commissioner will urge the Board of Governors to force a sale of the team.

The NBA had discovered Sterling was fact on the recording through an investigation. This announcement came at a press conference. Audio tapes were released to the media outlets last weekend and that is when the NBA started to investigate.

Players across the league including Kobe Bryant and LeBron James, and former players including Magic Johnson were outraged and fired back with comments toward Sterling. Also, sponsors began pulling their support from Clippers yesterday morning and the team considered boycotting game 4 of the NBA playoffs against the Golden State Warriors. Instead, they staged a silent protest before the game by wearing their jerseys inside out. The question is, who will buy the Clippers? Rumor has it that Magic Johnson might be interested in buying the team. That would be a slap in the face for Sterling, he got mad at his girlfriend for taking a picture with the basketball great. It seems like Sterling got what he deserves. Next time he should think before he speaks. But for now, everyone can be happy to know that there will be no more Donald Sterling since he was banned for life!
