Former President Donald Trump said he will be making a “big announcement” next week, with speculations that he will be revealing his 2024 presidential campaign. On the eve of this year’s midterm elections, the former president said he is holding back his announcement so as not to detract from the elections.

According to AP News, Trump stood before a crowd of cheering supporters citing how despite sparking frantic efforts to hold off on officially launching his campaign Monday night in Vandalia, Ohio, he managed not to piggyback his presidential campaign while lending his support for senatorial candidate JD Vance.

“I’m going to be making a very big announcement on Tuesday, Nov 15. a Mar-a-Lago,” Trump said.

Trump, 76, was in Ohio to bolster JD Vance’s run for senator, who was once Trump’s critic. The former president has not been shy about his plans to run for a second presidential term as he teased its probability for the past few days. He kept poking on how he would formalize his intentions “very, very soon”, confidently telling his supporters to stay tuned for further updates. However, many officials on the Republican side have advised the former president to hold off on making such proclamations as the result of the midterm election could have a negative effect should it not fall in the party’s favor.

Former New York Mayor and Trump ally Rudi Guilliani said it would be a bad idea to announce his plans a day before the midterms as it could potentially harm the party’s candidates. He added that it was fortunate that the announcement was held off to another date but the former president still laid the ground for it.

Nevertheless, Trump continues to hype up his supporters for his upcoming engagements, while endorsing nearly 300 candidates throughout the midterm campaign and staving off rivals. The numbers show that Trump garnered nearly 70% of the support within the party with his strongest potential competitor, Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis only receiving 10%. Despite supporting his campaign for Governor, Trump tried to underrate DeSantis, calling him “DeSanctimounius” just a few days ago, angering many members within the Republican party.

Trump’s announcements followed after numerous legal challenges were brought to his table earlier this year, including a series of investigations conducted by the FBI. The investigations could lead to potential indictments, with several classified documents being seized at his Mar-a-Lago club in Florida alongside federal inquiries regarding the 2020 presidential elections.
