An Everton football player who was apprehended on July 16 2021 on suspicion of child sex offenses is out on extended bail again. The 31-year-old Premier League star had been out on police bail until October 2021 but got to extend his bail until January of this year. Surprisingly, the footballer managed to get another extension last Sunday, which will allow him to enjoy his freedom until July 16.

According to the Mirror, a statement from the Greater Manchester Police said the footie star had his bail extended through the approval of magistrates. “He will now be asked to answer bail on Saturday 16 July as inquiries continue,” the police statement read.

After getting suspended by the club last year, Everton announced a confirmation on the suspension of one of its players pending a police investigation. "The Club will continue to support the authorities with their inquiries and will not be making any further statement at this time,” Everton said.

Since the player’s arrest, authorities have not yet charged him with any particular offenses. A club insider said allegations of this nature typically cause a considerate amount of alarm amongst the team and its fans. The insider source said the allegations stunned the dressing room and the married player who remains unnamed due to legal reasons, made the decision to keep a low profile as investigations are being carried forth, while some say he had gone into hiding after being handed the suspension.

Police detectives raided the player’s $2.6 million home in search of evidence where they seized several items and detectives questioned him in relation to the alleged offenses.

When Everton announced the player’s suspension, the team’s central midfielder Fabian Delph’s name made some noise sometime in July as fans speculated on him being the said suspected player. At the same time, Icelandic footballer Gylfi Sigurdsson was arrested for messaging underage girls in a sexual manner. Delph’s wife came forward to deny the accusations and kill the rumors.

As of now, football fans are all waiting to see where the investigation will lead.
