Tom Coughlin may be retired from the NFL, but the former Super Bowl champion recently admitted that he misses the game.

"I'm being less than honest if I said I didn't miss the sideline," said Coughlin. Coughlin is scheduled to be inducted into the Giants Ring of Honor this weekend before the Big Blue takes on the Cincinnati Bengals on Monday Night Football.

Coughlin coached the New York Giants for 12 seasons helping the franchise win Super Bowls in 2007 and 2011. He previously coached the Jacksonville Jaguars for eight years beginning as an expansion team, and later uplifting them to the AFC Championship Game in 1996. Coughlin first made a name for himself in the 1980s when he was a member of the Philadelphia Eagles, Giants and Green Bay Packers coaching staff.

The Giants are currently 5-3 with rookie head coach Ben McAdoo this season. When asked about McAdoo’s performance, Coughlin responded by saying “he’s done a nice job.”

“Someone asked me at the beginning of the season that question about rooting for the Giants, and the answer that I gave was an honest answer: I will always root for the Giants,” Coughlin went on to say.

The odds of Coughlin making a return to the NFL as a head coach are pretty slim despite his enormous success. Coughlin is 70 years old. Currently the oldest head coach in the NFL is Seattle Seahawks coach Pete Carroll who is 65. That’s not to say Coughlin isn’t capable of coaching at this age, but the constant traveling and rebuilding process would more than likely take its toll.
