A girl’s parents will want what is best for their angel, especially when they reach that point of getting married. However, there are instances when things get a bit extreme and this tale from a future son-in-law who landed a new job in New Delhi probably takes the cake.

The unidentified man took to Reddit to share his experience with the parents of his future wife. He revealed how he ended up getting locked in a room after he refused to divulge to his future in-laws how much he would be making in his new job.

Upon learning he landed a new job, the man revealed how the parents of his fiancée invited him over to their home. His future wife was not around at that time.

When he got there, the father-in-law invited him into a guest room. He was asked to leave his keys and phone at the dining table before heading into the room. From there, they started talking about his new job. It reached a point where they wanted to know how much he was making but the man politely declined.

The parents asked him why he would not reveal his salary. The father then stated: “you’re marrying my daughter, damn right it’s my business,” stressing he wanted to make sure that her future was secure.

The man assured the father that his daughter’s future was secure and said that money isn’t everything. However, the mother disagreed and said that love and respect are not enough to secure their daughter’s future. They also gave examples of things that could happen once they are married.

The topic went endlessly and the man just wanted to leave it at that and go. Unfortunately, the parents did not want him to exit until he shared the information they were looking for. He was locked up in the room when he tried to excuse himself.

At one point, the man used the term gold diggers on how he was being treated. He was eventually allowed to leave but not after the mother called her daughter to share that they were disrespected by the fiancée.

Initially, the girl was upset at what had happened. But it turns out she did not know the whole story. When the man explained what had happened, the girl understood everything. She told her husband-to-be that it does not matter if he is rich or poor but needed to apologize for calling her parents gold diggers.
