North Carolina Sen. Thom Tillis criticized President Donald Trump on Thursday for calling the Jeffrey Epstein case "boring stuff."

As backlash mounts over the Trump administration's refusal to release the "Epstein files," which the president is now referring to as a "hoax" perpetrated by the Democratic Party, Tillis has become the latest Republican to speak out against the controversial decision.

"I have to disagree with the president," Tillis said during an interview on "Good Morning BT with Bo Thompson & Beth Troutman," according to reporting by The Hill. "I don't think human trafficking of young teenage girls being exploited by billionaires on a private island is boring."

"I think it's despicable, and I believe that anybody who had anything to do with it or knowledge of it should be held accountable," Tillis continued. "Just release the damn files," he added.

Earlier this week, Tillis announced he will retire following the 2026 midterms. He made his decision after President Trump publicly criticized him for opposing the "big, beautiful bill," spotlighting its significant cuts to Medicaid.

"It affected me in a way that said: 'I'm done with this bulls--t,'" Tillis told HuffPost on Tuesday.
