2013 Hennessey VR1200 Twin Turbo

Earlier this week, the SH130 highway in Texas finally opened its new toll road section with a raised speed limit of 85 mph. Already coined by some as the "American Autobahn," Texas super-tuner Hennessey is looking to put its new reputation to the test with the latest Hennessey VR1200 twin turbo Cadillac CTS-V coupe.

Let's get down to the nitty gritty-- the new heavyweight Hennessey packs a twin-turbocharged 7.0 liter V8 powerplant derived from the outrageous Hennessey Venom GT supercar. The V8 engine is finished with forged aluminum pistons, connecting rods, and a forged crankshaft to handle the devastating 1,226-hp and 1,109 lb.-ft. of torque power output at the flywheel.

With the aid of Texas staties, Hennessey managed to close down a proper stretch on the new SH130. Why do you ask? Why else but to conduct a high speed pass... under the pretenses of verifying the TxTag electronic toll collection systems.

In one pass, the VR1200 CTS-V Hulk-smashed its way to 180 mph by the time it hit the TxTag system. By the end of the closed road, Hennessey and the Texas Department of Transportation's high speed cameras confirmed that the VR1200 reached a maniacal 220.5 mph.

You could forget about asking Texas State Police to close down the SH130 for you, but you could ask Hennessey to make you a Cadillac supercar. Hennessey will charge $295,000 to transform any CTS-V (coupe, sedan, or wagon) into a hot-blooded VR1200. That said, be sure to act quickly-- only 12 examples will be built.
