The new Princess of Wales honored Queen Elizabeth II during the procession of the late monarch’s coffin to Westminster Hall by wearing precious jewelry Her Majesty gave her.

Kate Middleton wore a pearl and diamond studded brooch at the event. The same piece was seen on the Queen during her visit to Seoul on April 21, 1999.

She paid homage to the late Queen by following her fashion trademark wherein she would give subtle messages through pieces of jewelry, says Harper’s Bazaar. It is believed that the brooch was gifted by the late Queen herself as an heirloom to the former Duchess of Cambridge.

The jewelry features three gigantic pearls embellished with small intricately placed diamonds in pavé leaf.

In royal fashion, Kate paired the Queen’s brooch with a long black coat which highlighted the rarely seen ornamental pin.

According to Vogue, Queen Elizabeth II wore the piece only once. It then recently caught the attention of fashion lovers and royal followers around the world when the then Duchess wore it in Belgium during a royal state visit back in 2017.

Her Majesty is known for her love of pearls. However, Vogue noted that pearls have been associated with grief since Queen Victoria’s reign.

Kate also honored Princess Diana, her mother-in-law, during the procession by wearing the late princess’ earrings. The piece was gifted by Collingwood Jewellers before Diana's wedding to then Prince Charles, now King Charles III.

The newly crowned Princess of Wales has been a fashion icon, often being compared to Diana for the subtle repeating of clothes in style.

Queen Elizabeth II’s coffin left Buckingham Palace one last time, accompanied by a grand royal procession and the royal family going to Westminster Hall. King Charles III walked behind her coffin together with William, Prince of Wales, and Harry, Duke of Sussex.

The procession passed through some of the historical landmarks in London while thousands of mourners from around the country joined to witness the last march of the longest-reigning British monarch in history.

Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II died at the age of 96 in her home in Balmoral Castle, Scotland on September 8.
