Prince William and Kate Middleton may be one of the most admired royal couples today, but that doesn’t mean that they never had their own share of relationship problems. In fact, there was a time back in their dating years when Kate felt so miserable because of Prince William.

Prince William and Kate have been together as a married couple for nine years now. Since their royal wedding in 2010, they have successfully built a family crowned with three beautiful children: Prince George, Princess Charlotte and Prince Louis.

The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge had been together for many years before they decided to tie the knot. And just like ordinary couples, they had had their own share of problems too. In fact, they experienced one of the biggest bumps in their relationship in 2007, when they decided to split to give each other time to contemplate things and their plans for the future.

What most people don’t know, however, is that years before their highly publicized split in 2007, Prince William and Kate had already gone through a major bump in their relationship. That happened in 2004, when Prince William decided to call it quits with Kate during a summer break from St. Andrew’s University.

Prince William described it as some sort of a “trial separation.” During that time, he wanted some space from Kate to see if he could stand being away from her for long.

In the book “The Duchess Of Cambridge: How Kate Middleton Became A Future Queen,” a royal author revealed how Prince William used his time off to go on a holiday with his good friend Guy Pelly. Pelly reportedly hired an all-female crew for their trip so he and Prince William could have a good time together.

When Kate learned about it, Kate reportedly packed her bags to return to Berkshire and spend time with her family and friends. The book revealed that while having a drink with her closest friends, Kate broke down and told them how miserable she felt at that time because of Prince William.

“She got quite drunk on white wine and really let her guard down,” a friend of Kate revealed. “She was debating whether or not she should text or call him. She said how sad she was and how much she was missing William but she never mentioned it after that,” she added.
