How Kate Middleton Reacted After Hearing Prince Harry’s ‘Unique’ Nickname For Her

Kate Middleton previously reacted after learning from an interviewer how Prince Harry once referred to her on a podcast. But just like in most cases, the Duchess of Cambridge proved how nice and polite she really is.

While speaking with Scott Mills on BBC’s Radio 1 two years ago, the interviewer told Kate that the Duke of Sussex once called her Cath on a podcast. Mills said that the nickname confused him a bit because everyone calls Prince William’s wife Catherine or Kate.

Mills also asked the mom of three if the nickname Cath was also used by the other members of the royal family to refer to her. “Well, I am not sure,” Kate replied.

“I am not that familiar with that [Cath], I have to say. But I’ll answer to most things, to be honest,” she added.

Over a decade ago, royal expert Adam Helliker claimed that Kate asked her friends to start calling her Catherine instead of Kate in preparation for her future role as Prince William’s wife. But Prince William didn’t ask for Kate’s hand in marriage until two years after the story first broke out.

“I hear that in the past few weeks the former accessories buyer has quietly informed friends that she would like to drop the informal ‘Kate’ and in future wishes to be known by her full name: Catherine,” Helliker told the Sunday Express. Royal expert Daniela Esler seconded Helliker’s claim.

According to Esler, Kate asked her friends to start calling her Catherine via an email. However, the manner in which she asked them was “very jokey” and “gentle.”

Meanwhile, Kate’s response to Mills’ question just proved how polite and nice she really is. Instead of making fun of Prince Harry, she simply said that she responds to almost anything.

The Duke of Sussex and the Duchess of Cambridge used to have a very close relationship. In fact, Prince Harry was asked to comment on Kate and Prince William’s engagement in 2010.

At that time, Meghan Markle’s husband said that he couldn’t be happier for his brother and future sister-in-law. He also said that Kate is the big sister that he never had.
