Prince Charles had one of the most surprising reactions after he learned about the one thing that was making Princess Diana feel worried. The incident took place in 1981, shortly after their relationship was made public.

On the podcast series “Images Of Diana,” host Natasha Kaplinsky talked about one of the Princess of Wales’ most controversial photos. In the snap, the late royal is holding the hands of two small children, and it’s evident that she’s wearing a see-through skirt.

Royal photographer Arthur Edwards was the one who took the photo of Princess Diana, and it made front-page news. After seeing the photograph, Princess Diana and Prince Charles had very different reactions.

“I didn’t want to become known as the girlfriend who didn’t have a petticoat,” Princess Diana said. “I didn’t know you had such lovely legs,” Prince Charles remarked.

Just last week, the same photo of Princess Diana made headlines after royal expert Katie Nicholl’s article was revisited. While speaking with Express, Nicholl said that Princess Diana wasn’t very fashionable when she first joined the royal family.

“She was pretty demure,” Nicholl said. “I wouldn’t say fashionable in any way. So much so that, that very first picture of Diana that was taken of her, holding a child outside the nursery she was photographed in a completely see-through skirt. Much to her horror. That was how naive, I suppose Diana was when it came to her fashion choices,” she added.

But throughout the years, the mom of two became a renowned fashion icon. And until today, her daughters-in-law, who she hasn’t met, have been channeling her style during their respective engagements.

However, one of Princess Diana’s most fashionable and memorable pieces was her so-called Revenge Dress. The Princess of Wales stepped out in public wearing the black off-shoulder dress shortly after Prince Charles confessed to having an affair with Camilla Parker Bowles.

The dress was dubbed as “Revenge Dress” because Princess Diana seemingly conveyed a message during her outing. She also made it seem as though she didn’t have a care in the world if Prince Charles and Camilla are together.
