A sequel for 2004's Disney-Pixar film “The Incredibles” is in the works to be written and directed by Brad Bird. Disney

Disney’s latest scifi adventure “Tomorrowland” was directed by Brad Bird, the man who directed 2004's Disney-Pixar film “The Incredibles” and who just confirmed is writing its sequel. In fact, when Bird was asked to be more specific about where he was in the writing process, he confirmed he already has “a bunch of pages” written. At the moment, Bird is busy promoting the George Clooney film, but it seems like he’ll go right back to working on the Pixar sequel after “Tomorrowland” is out.

“I had a lot of ideas for the original ‘Incredibles’ that I didn’t get a chance to use, that I like. I have ideas that I wanted to pursue a little bit and there wasn’t enough time in ‘Incredibles.’ There are new ideas I have, and I think there are enough of those together to make an interesting movie. I’m just focusing on getting ‘Tomorrowland’ out into the world and playing with the ‘Incredibles’ sandbox again,” the director explained to Collider.

Brad Bird had his directorial debut in 1999 with the “The Iron Giant,” and has since then been recognized as one of the best filmmakers these days. We’ve enjoyed his animation skills in movies like “The Incredibles,” of course and the wonderful “Ratatouille” before Bird took the leap into live-action making the highest grossing film in the Mission: Impossible franchise to date, “Mission: Impossible – Ghost Protocol.” Bird took to his Twitter page last a few days ago to assure his fans, they need not worry about the film: “‘Reports’ have been saying a LOT of nonsense about the plot of Incredibles 2. Just relax. I've got this.”
