Jay-Z 'Great Gatsby' Score: Is Lana Del Rey Writing Love Songs For 2013 Film?

In a recent post on Pop Crush, L.A.-based songstress Lana Del Rey is being reportedly linked to the soundtrack for Baz Luhrmann's upcoming 2013 film, "The Great Gatsby," based on F. Scott Fitzgerald's classic great American novel set in New York's Roaring Twenties. The Telegraph UK reports that the soundtrack will be scored by Hip-Hop Superstar Jay-Z with Bullitts-frontman Jeymes Samuel. So Where does Lana Del Rey come into play? In a recent update on her Facebook page, the possibly-engaged female singer posted an image of the logo for the movie.

NME reports that the image originally posted on the aforementioned Facebook fan page has since been taken down, though the speculation doesn't end there.

Del Rey also mysteriously tweeted the following last Thursday:

Gigwise reports that the singer hasn't been officially confirmed for the soundtrack, but the evidence remains almost certain. Especially in light of a quote made by Del Rey during an interview on Dutch television last fall, as noted by Perez Hilton. When asked about her current projects, the singer answered, saying,"I've been helping composers write scores for movies. So, like, there's a movie coming out in the summer that's set in the 1920s and it's been fun for me to write love songs for the woman who is the star."

Is there some other movie set in the 1920s that's due for release? It seems clear that Del Rey is referring to "The Great Gatsby," and to leading lady Carey Mulligan, who will co-star alongside Tobey Maguire as Nick Carraway and Leonardo DiCaprio as Jay Gatsby himself.

Australian Director Baz Lurhmann, who is directing the summer blockbuster, is famous for his epic, stylized dramas, including past award winners "Australia", "Moulin Rouge!" and "Romeo + Juliet."
