Vance Kicks Off White House’s Tour to Promote Trump’s Big Beautiful Bill in Pennsylvania

Vice President JD Vance taunted House Minority Leader Hakeem Jeffries after he called an AI-generated video posted by President Donald Trump that showed him wearing a sombrero racist.

"On the sombrero thing, Hakeem Jeffries said it was racist. And I don't even honestly know what that means. Like, is he a Mexican-American that is offended?" Vance said while talking to press at the White House.

The fake video in question shows Jeffries wearing a sombrero and a handlebar mustache, with Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer saying in a fake voice that Democrats "have no voters left because of our woke, trans bullsh--" while mariachi music plays in the background.

Both Jeffries and Schumer criticized the video. "Mr. President, the next time you have something to say about me, don't cop out through a racist and fake AI video," Jeffries said. "When I'm back in the Oval Office, say it to my face," he added. Schumer, on his end, said Trump "is busy trolling away on the internet like a 10-year-old."

House Speaker Mike Johnson sought to downplay the issue, saying the video was posted "as a joke" and that is "not the real issue." "The fight tonight is not about social media posts," the Speaker added. "The fight is about whether (Democrats will) keep the government open for the American people," he added, discussing the ongoing government shutdown.
