Kate Del Castillo continues to make the headlines after her secret meeting with Joaquín “El Chapo” Guzmán and Hollywood actor Sean Penn was exposed by Rolling Stone magazine a day after the infamous drug lord was recaptured by Mexican authorities.

Del Castillo, who has been constantly chased by the media in the past couple of weeks, recently made very strong declarations against the Mexican Government, “I don’t have to give the media any explanations. If I’m not saying anything is because my lawyers advised me not to do so because the government wants to destroy me, no matter what,” the 43-year-old actress told Univision.

Del Castillo, who is known for having a strong character and for not having pelos en la lengua, shared a photo on Instagram days after her secret rendezvous with “El Chapo” went public. It read, “Now, why should I be nervous?” After receiving harsh criticism from her followers, she decided to take the post down.

Last week, however, her good friend and Mexican journalist, Lydia Cacho, revealed bits of a conversation she had with the telenovela star about two weeks ago, “She is clearly very scared and doesn’t understand why the Mexican Government is attacking her this way,” Cacho told Jorge Ramos. During her interview on "Al Punto," Cacho delivers her personal opinion about Penn's actions and points to a possible betrayal on the actor's behalf.

On Sunday, TMZ spotted Del Castillo next to radio host, Jillian Barberie, outside a Mexican restaurant in Los Angeles, when she was asked about her “good friend” Penn she replied, “You know what? I don’t want to talk about him.” Sources report Del Castillo will finally share details about her meeting with “El Chapo” with the authorities at the Mexican Embassy in Los Angeles on Monday.
