The growing unrest and animosity between Prince William and Kate Middleton on one hand and Prince Harry and Meghan Markle on the other, as suggested by recent reports, only seem to deepen, so much so that the royal fallout has reportedly led to loss of job.

Sophie Agnew, one of Kate’s staffers of seven years, has been laid off by the Duchess of Cambridge. The reason being cited for her removal is apparently the redundancy of her role.

“Her role has been made redundant as a result of the split of the two households,” said a senior-level source to The Daily Mail. And it has been revealed that Agnew will not be replaced.

Speculations, however, attribute it to something else — a royal feud. Agnew, who has accompanied the duchess on trips in the past, was informed of the development on her return from her honeymoon. The news came as a bolt from the blue for Agnew, who loved her job.

“Sophie worked so hard for Kate,” a friend said. “She loved her job and made a lot of sacrifices,” the friend added. Agnew is married to Stuart Hill, an insurance company director.

The news of her exit also came as a shocker for the royal household as nobody really saw it coming. Agnew has been one of Kate’s trusted staffers, who was always spotted around Kate and was in charge of the duchess’ personal assistants. The decision, as indicated in recent reports, is perceived as bizarre and an extreme cost-cutting move.

In what is being perceived as a result of a “royal split” between the Cambridges and the Sussexes, Sophie’s job apparently became unnecessary after it became evident that Prince Harry and Meghan harbored a strong desire to draw more separation from Prince William and Kate.

While royal folks are still reeling under a state of shock, back in May, news surfaced of the royal couples announcing that they would be exploring separate charities in the near future. It was also revealed that then newlyweds Prince Harry and Meghan would be moving out of Kensington Palace and prefer to reside in Windsor.

This isn’t the first time a longtime staffer has relieved herself from the royal services post marriage. In 2017, Kate’s private secretary, Rebecca Deacon, suddenly quit soon after she got hitched.
