Kate Middleton and Meghan Markle gained access to many luxuries in life when they married into the royal family. Considered fashion icons in their own rights, the two duchesses have helped items from certain brands sell out just because people see them wear them during their public outings.

Kate and Meghan have each a jewelry collection worth millions of pounds. While most of the pieces of jewelry they own today come from royal inheritance, some of them have been with them even before they became royals. Meghan, for instance, had several Cartier pieces before Prince Charles gave her an expensive Cartier Tennis Bracelet when she married Prince Harry.

The Duchess of Sussex is not the only one who has penchant for watches from the popular French brand. Best known for its luxurious women’s watches, Cartier is a jewelry brand founded in 1847 and has a history long linked with the British royal family. In fact, it has been appointed as the “official purveyor” to several monarchs, including King Edward VII and King Edward VIII.

Currently, Meghan owns a Cartier French Tank watch that has the same features as the Cartier watch that Princess Diana used to wear. The Duchess of Sussex reportedly treated herself to a gold and stainless version of the Cartier French Tank watch when she scored her breakout role in the TV series “Suits.” In a 2015 interview, she revealed that she’s always coveted that Cartier watch.

Kate’s watch, meanwhile, has the Balloon Blue de Cartier watch, which is relatively modest compared with Meghan’s. While other models of this watch have diamonds or mechanical features, Kate’s watch doesn’t have any of those features. According to reports, Prince William gave the Cartier watch to his wife as a gift.

Of the two Cartier watches that the Duchess of Sussex and the Duchess of Cambridge own, Meghan’s yellow gold and steel watch is the costlier one. It costs £5,300, which she paid from her first talent fee as a “Suits” actress. Meghan also just expanded her Cartier collection recently when she bought another Cartier stainless watch for £2,890. Kate’s watch, on the other hand, costs only £4,150.
