Kate Middleton, recently, had some good news — one of her first patronages, after becoming a royal, has now taken shape. The Duchess of Cambridge associated with East Anglia's Children's Hospices (EACH) soon after her marriage to Prince William.

The patronage, which happens to be one of her firsts, holds a very special place in her heart as Kate has always been a frontrunning royal in the area of child welfare and development. EACH focuses on offering care and support to children afflicted with life-threatening conditions and their families across Cambridgeshire, Essex, Norfolk, and Suffolk.

The Duchess raised funds to build a state-of-art hospice and do away with the old property at Quidenham in 2014. Roughly about five years later, the new hospice is open. This comes after an arduous five-year public appeal and two years of building. The new site in Framingham Earl comprises a hydrotherapy pool and a sensory room along with en-suite family accommodation rooms.

“The Nook is a 21st-century building to provide 21st-century care, spread across a single floor, with more areas for clinical care, larger and better equipped en-suite bedrooms, dedicated therapy rooms and much more,” the spokesperson of EACH said. “It will allow us to fully cater to an increased demand for our service and the ever-changing and more complex needs of those we care for. Set on a five-acre woodland site, closer to the center of the county, hospitals and road networks, it also means the majority of families and staff will travel shorter distances to receive and deliver care,” it added.

Kate Middleton paid a visit to the Quidenham hospice, back in 2017, to understand why the Nook is vital. The Duchess extended her support by attending the opening night of musical 42nd Street the same year. The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge graced their presence at a fundraising gala dinner at Houghton Hall in 2016, where the Duchess made a striking statement in a blush embellished creation by designer Jenny Packham.

Prince William's wife also has a very special memory with the association— she gave her first public speech during an engagement with EACH, when she inaugurated the Treehouse hospice in Ipswich on Mar. 19, 2012. Kate Middleton has played an active role in regards to royal engagements ever since.
