Liverpool and manager Brendan Rodgers have been extremely active in the early part of the 2013 transfer market and while the club will continue to look for capable players heading into next season's Premier League schedule, Anfield may be saying goodbye to one of the club's top goal-scorers.
According to The Guardian, Liverpool striker Luis Suarez confirmed recently that he wants to depart the club despite his current contract. Citing improper treatment from the local paparazzi and the strong desire to make sure his family is safe and happy as reasons for wanting to leave Anfield, the 26-year-old spoke in detail about his wishes.

It's a good moment for a change of environment because of all I've been through in England, where I haven't been judged as a player but based on other things. I had a hard time, very hard, in the things that have been said are lies.
My family, my image - that's what matters to me most. The coach and some colleagues know that I suffered, I was treated badly and I did not feel comfortable and they know perfectly.

While it may appear that Suarez is unhappy with everything surrounding his stay in Liverpool, the striker -- who notched 30 goals and dished out 11 assists last season -- doesn't want his current club to think he holds them responsible for his yearning to leave.
It's nothing against Liverpool, on the contrary, I feel very comfortable at the club, but I have a daughter and I do not want her to hear bad things about her father.
In England they talk about many things and in some ways I feel uncomfortable. I do not know when I'm going and I do not know if I'm staying. If I stay it is because it is a great club but also in turn I know that it is difficult because of the harassment I get from the press.
Suarez may not hold any negative feelings for his current club and while he seems content on leaving peacefully, Liverpool sent a strong message 2 months ago through the team's Twitter page indicating that Luis is under contract and that he is not for sale.

If anything changes as far as the player's contract or Liverpool simply decides they're willing to deal one of their primary scoring options, Bleacher Report indicates that international powerhouse Real Madrid could be a landing spot. A move to the Spanish squad would make sense for the striker since he would not be solely relied upon as the primary option like he was many times at Anfield.

Despite rumors that Suarez will depart before next season, Liverpool has already added strength with the acquisitions of Kolo Toure, Luis Alberto, Simon Mignolet and Iago Aspas. Looking to add another attacking player regardless of what Luis Suarez eventually does, Liverpool manager Brendan Rodgers remains forceful in his offseason pursuit of talent.
"I still think another attacking, creative player, and depending on what goes out of the club," Rodgers said to LFCTV. "Because naturally there might be one or two players who need to go out and play more, then we'll need to fill those areas that have been vacated. Certainly another attacking player will really benefit us, and probably another defender. We'll see how it develops over the course of the next few months."
According to the International Business Times, Rodgers' premier attack target is Henrikh Mkhitaryan. An attacking midfielder from the Ukrainian league, the 24-year-old Armenia native led the league in goal's last season as a member of Shakhtar Donetsk. Despite rumors that Champions League runner-up Borussia Dortmund will make a move to sign the rising talent, Mkhitaryan remains linked to a possible £25 million move to Liverpool.
As the transfer season continues to unfold, Liverpool will surely remain a club to keep a close eye on.
