A man from the Philippines who killed his two daughters was shot by local authorities when he reportedly tried to attack the apprehending officers. The man was identified only as Rol who stabbed his two daughters aged 8 and 9 at their home in Barangay Western Poblacion, Catanduanes at around 10:30 p.m.

Per reports, the 45-year-old killed the two kids inside their home in Baras town, Catanduanes province before police arrived. When officers arrived at the scene, the suspect allegedly tried to attack them with a knife resulting in the shooting. The man was shot and injured in the right leg.

Local police still managed to rush the sisters to the Bato Maternity Hospital. However, both were already dead even before they arrived.

“Police immediately responded to the incident but arrived to see two girls lying and bathing in their own blood,” Police Major Malu Calubaquib stated. “The suspect and the victims aged eight and nine who sustained stab wounds were taken to the Bato Maternity Hospital but the two children were declared dead-on-arrival,” she added.

The motive behind the killing has yet to be established. The mother of the two young girls works abroad. Rol was brought to an unnamed hospital in Virac for treatment. According to authorities, they were having a hard time talking to the suspect who is now recovering from the gunshot wound at the hospital.

“Police have yet to properly speak to the suspect who is still at the hospital recovering,” Calubaquib stated.
