Louis Tomlinson of One Direction signed up for a little more than he could handle at a charity soccer event Sunday. Gabriel Agbonlahor, a striker for Aston Villa, leveled the pop singer during the match as he tried to remove the ball from his posession, resulting in minor injuries. The hit completely overwhelmed Tomlinson as he began to vomit in the middle of the match, which was put on by Stiliyan Petrov, a footballer who retired from the sport when he was diagnosed with leukemia. While the tackle toppled the 21-year-old, it was hardly a vicious hit. Tomlinson reportedly suffered a minor knee injury after the hit.
True to Directioner credo, young fans began sending an onslaught of disgruntled tweets to Agbonlahor for the tackle. The Daily Mail reported that the soccer player received numerous tweets, some with violence peppered in, such as this one penned by a Directioner: "@gabby_10 This guy hurt Louis knee. I shall hurt your face. I better hear that you apologized or I will find you, and I will kill you." After the match, the two appeared friendly toward each other and that no hard feelings remained. Martin O'Neil, a manager for Tomlinson, said the hit shook him up, but he is expected to be fine. "Agbonlahor smashed into him and he picked himself up and then was ill in the dressing-room area, but he's not too bad now I think. He had to rush off, but I think he's fine. He doesn't know where he is, but he's fine. He was genuinely ill, but he's OK now," he said.
