An Osaka man has been arrested on Wednesday, Sept. 22, after being accused of cruelly burning his girlfriend's 3-year-old son to death with searing hot shower water at an apartment in Settsu, Japan.

Takumi Matsubara, 23, who was reportedly living with the boy's mother at the apartment in Settsu, has denied the accusations against him and insists that he and the 3-year-old toddler were only "playing in [the] hot shower together."

The unfortunate incident reportedly happened on Aug. 31 while Matsubara was taking care of the child because the boy's mother was away for work, Japan Today reported.

The suspect told investigators that the child collapsed in the hot shower and become unresponsive after he stepped out of the bathroom to set the shower water to a higher temperature.

The boy's mother had reportedly already consulted the local government in Settsu about Matsubara alleged abuse of the child in May earlier this year. However, the city's consultation center told the mother that the situation did not require any protective measures for the young boy.

In a similar but unrelated incident, a Florida man named Alegray Jones, 30, has been charged with aggravated manslaughter of a child after he killed his girlfriend’s 2-year-old son for urinating on the couch, CBS4 Miami reported.

The incident reportedly occurred while the boy’s mother had left the child with Jones as she went to work. On the day the child was murdered, Jones allegedly texted his girlfriend and told her the boy did not respond as he attempted to wake the kid. The woman immediately rushed home, contacted 911, and the boy was rushed to a hospital where he was pronounced dead.

The boy reportedly had numerous visible injuries on his body. An autopsy report further revealed that the child died of blunt force injuries.

When officers confronted Jones, he admitted that he had become aggravated when the boy urinated on the couch. Jones confessed that he struck the kid numerous times in a fit of rage and knocked him out, leading to the boy's death.

In another incident, a Brooklyn man named Ricardo Price, 23, has been arrested after brutally beating his girlfriend's 4-month-old infant to death for interrupting his video games on June 21, Latin Times reported.

Price allegedly threw his girlfriend Eryca Kemp's four-month-old daughter Royalty Kemp against a wall and banged a video game controller against the infant’s head to stop her from crying.

Price, who worked as a security guard, is currently jailed at the New York City Department of Corrections facility at Rikers Island without bail, awaiting word on possible homicide charges now that the baby has died.
