A man fell from the Empire State Building's observation deck on the 86th floor of the Midtown Manhattan skyscraper. Two tourists from Argentina, Luis Jofre and Julieta Barambones told the press that they saw the yet-unidentified man fall to their deck on the 85th floor of the Empire State Building.
The man had allegedly fallen from the upper observation deck but was saved by the next floor down, which stuck out slightly from the width of the 86th floor. The tourists saw the man swing his legs as if to try to fall again, they told the New York Daily News.
Around midnight Thursday, security guards found the man and tried successfully to talk him out of jumping again. He is currently being treated at Bellevue Hospital for a broken ankle and other minor injuries. Authorities have not officially called the incident a suicide attempt. Nonetheless, the man will be charged with trespassing.
