The police found a 29-year-old man hiding in a woodland in Sunderland, North East England. They immediately arrested him after he targeted several people with blood on hands while carrying a meat cleaver and wearing a Halloween mask.

People were terrified and compared the incident to be strickingly similar to horror films. McCabe was full of rage and anger as he talked with his dad before leaving their house. He expressed his annoyance and stated that someone had punched him. Moments later he was reported for displaying disturbing actions to residents nearby, and harming and scaring those who spotted him.

Newcastle Crown Court heard McCabe turned his fury on people nearby, who were forced to flee in fear.

In a statement released by Prosecutor Jessica Slaughter, it is said that furious McCabe first targeted two sisters inside a parked car. "The defendant approached the driver's side, wearing a black Halloween mask, carrying a meat cleaver. He had blood on his hands," the prosecutor said.

"He pulled the meat cleaver up, hitting the driver's side window, shouting and demanding money. He struck the car several times, until the driver was able to compose herself and she could drive away."

McCabe didn't stop there. He then diverted his attention to a mother and daughter who witnessed his actions and demands for money. He immediately walked towards them and started shouting while still holding the meat cleaver. They ran and locked the front door before McCabe reached the house and smashed the window.

The mother said, "I kept thinking what if I didn't get in the house and get the door closed in time, what would have happened?" Her daughter is still in shock after what happened to them.

The Sunderland man admitted to having a bladed article. He was charged with criminal damage, robbery and affray, and has been jailed for a total of three years and four months for instilling fear in the persons involved.

ChronicleLive stated that McCabe was labeled as "full of hell". He had warned that he was "going to kill someone before long" in a confrontation with his father in January. He has mental health problems made worse by substance abuse. McCabe has been in the psychiatric hospital in the past.
