A man reportedly killed himself after shooting his colleague to death at her wedding venue in Nellore district, Andhra Pradesh, India on Monday, May 9.

The accused, identified as N Suresh Reddy, and the victim, T Kavya, both software professionals, reportedly worked together in an office in Hyderabad, India. The two allegedly had a three-year relationship while being coworkers.

However, when Reddy expressed his desire to marry Kavya, the victim's parents reportedly rejected his proposal to marry their daughter and arranged for her to wed another man. Reddy, allegedly tried to dissuade the woman and her family from going ahead with the wedding but his pleas proved unanswered, NDTV reported.

Reddy recently bought a locally-made pistol, reportedly with the intention of disturbing Kavya's nuptials. On Monday, Reddy gatecrashed the wedding venue and fired multiple shots at Kavya. The bride died on the scene. After murdering his former girlfriend, Reddy tried to flee the scene before subsequently turning the gun on himself and shooting himself to death, the Indian Express reported.

Following the incident, the authorities have launched an investigation into the tragedy and are trying to determine where Reddy procured his gun from.

In a similar but unrelated incident, an Indian man has been accused of viciously bludgeoning to death with a machete a woman he loved, right in front of the victim's own mother, for rejecting his proposal in Guwahati, Assam, India, Latin Times reported.

The accused, identified as Sanjay Lalung, was reportedly in love with the victim, Marami Tanti, and expressed his love for her several times. However, frustrated by the victim's constant rejection, Lalung, in a fit of rage, allegedly dragged Tanti out from a vehicle, slashed her with a machete, and proceeded to murder her in front of her mother out of anger.

On the day of the brutal slaying, Lalung reportedly visited Tanti's residence unannounced. After seeing Tanti and her mother approaching the residence in their car, he walked up to the two before proceeding to drag the victim out of the vehicle and attack her with a machete. Tanti was reported dead at the scene. After killing the woman, the accused fled from the crime scene in his car.

He was later tracked down and arrested by the Satgaon police.
