Defending Premier League champions Manchester United recently announced plans to participate in a United States tour prior to the start of the 2014-2015 season. The 2013-2014 campaign in the competitive BPL has not gone according to plan for first-year manager David Moyes and company but with an intense preseason slate that will match the Red Devils up with some of the premier teams across the globe, the summer slate -- which will be part of the 2014 International Champions Cup -- could serve as a way for United to reboot heading into their English League fixtures.

Set to run from July 26 to Aug. 4, the 2014 Guinness International Champions Cup will be played in 13 US cities and feature some of the top players and clubs in the game. International superstars including Cristiano Ronaldo, Luis Suarez, Robin van Persie and Gareth Bale headline a field of exciting and award-winning players while United, Real Madrid, AC Milan, Liverpool, AS Roma and Inter Milan are among the clubs expected to appear at the upcoming summer event. Excited to announce that the English giants will be among the most popular teams at the tournament, Richard Arnold, managing director at Old Trafford, said that it certainly will be great to bring Manchester United back to the United States.

“I’m delighted to announce that the team will be returning to the USA for our 2014 tour,” Arnold said. “Since the club’s last visit in 2011, the appeal of football in America has grown rapidly. Manchester United has over eight million followers in the United States and the 2014 tour presents an exciting opportunity for these fans to get up close to the club they love.” Last year’s tournament saw the championship match between Chelsea and Real Madrid draw over 67,000 fans at Sun Life Stadium in Miami, Florida and the 2014 edition of the preseason event promises to be full of excitement as well.
