Despite drawing high levels of interest from multiple clubs, Manchester United striker Javier ‘Chicharito’ Hernández remain at Old Trafford, bringing an end to talks concerning a possible departure from the Premier League squad. The 25-year-old Mexican international had been linked to BPL challengers Arsenal and Chelsea, with clubs from Spain, Italy, France and Germany all showing significant levels of interest as well. According to Chicharito’s agent Eduardo Hernández, the former Liga MX star was a prized possession in various European markets and even though a move was not made this winter, Hernández could play elsewhere ahead of the 2014-2015 season.

“I had meetings with a few clubs, I won't name them, nor their offers, they are very interested in him,” Eduardo Hernández told ESPN Deportes. “One of the top 10 teams in the world are among those teams that were very interested in signing Javier. There was a club from Germany, one from France, and two from Spain and Italy each that want to have him. However, he is under contract with Man United and he somehow has to respect it in case there is an agreement between the parties.

“I can’t say for sure what the future holds,” Hernández, who wants to see his star player receive added minutes on the pitch, said regarding Chicharito’s future with Manchester United. “Football is dynamic and his current situation could change tomorrow, so there are clubs that are interested, that like him a lot and trust him to succeed. He has achieved a high value in Europe's market and I can't say that there won't be anything concrete after the next six months. However, we do hope he gets minutes.”

Hernández has appeared in 14 Barclays Premier League matches this season for seventh place United, registering 2 goals on 12 shot attempts to go along with 2 assists. A native of Guadalajara, Mexico, Hernández has grown into a popular figure with the Red Devils despite a low number of minutes. Playing a reserved role in David Moyes’ striker division behind Wayne Rooney, Robin van Persie and Danny Welbeck, the talented scorer – who has registered over 35 international goals and an additional 35 league tallies with United since joining the club from Guadalajara in 2010 – has long been seeking a higher role with the first team at Old Trafford but it simply has not happened.

While his agent indicates he will remain with United heading into next season, Chicharito’s future will certainly be worth monitoring.
