Mason Greenwood, 21, is set to stay more than a month behind bars after a district judge on Monday remanded him in custody after he breached bail conditions. The Manchester United star's case has been adjourned to Nov. 21, when a pre-trial practice hearing will take place at Manchester’s Minshull Street Crown Court.

Mirror reported that wearing a grey Nike hoodie and white T-shirt, Greenwood confirmed his name, date of birth, and address before his barrister, David Toal, as he made a bail application.

Greenwood was re-arrested on Saturday due to an allegation that he broke his bail conditions by reaching out to the alleged victim, reported Manchester Evening News.

The footballer spent Saturday and Sunday night behind bars, awaiting Monday's court appearance. Janet Potter, the deputy chief crown prosecutor for CPS North West, said on Saturday that the Crown Prosecution Service has authorized Greater Manchester Police to charge Greenwood with attempting to rape a woman who is 16 or over, with a date specified as Oct. 22, 2021; engaging in controlling/coercive behavior between Dec. 1, 2018, and Oct. 15, 2022, specified; and assaulting a person thereby causing the victim actual bodily harm between Dec. 12, 2021, and Dec. 31, 2021.

Details of those charges were read out before proceedings were adjourned, after which bail arrangements will be decided.

All three charges relate to the same complainant. Specialist rape prosecutors from CPS North West’s complex casework unit permitted the charges after a thorough review of a file of evidence received from Greater Manchester Police.

Man Utd suspended Greenwood when the allegations came to light, and he has not played or trained with the club since. The player has scored 35 times for the club and made 129 appearances. Also, he was removed from the popular FIFA 22 video game while Nike ended his sponsorship deal, Sky Sports reported.

Greenwood, of Jamaican descent, was born in Bradford, West Yorkshire, and raised in the Wibsey area. His sister, Ashton, is a track athlete. He was accused of assaulting a woman on Jan. 30, 2022. In a series of posts on her social media account, the alleged victim posted images and videos of apparent injuries.
