In a rather distressing turn of events, an Indian woman hailing from Madhya Pradesh was arrested for sexually assaulting a minor boy.

As reported by Times Now News, the incident came to light on May 27 after the lady’s husband and in-laws learned about the incident and her alleged involvement in the abuse of a 16-year-old boy. Shockingly, the family of the accused decided to milk the opportunity, and embroil the victim in a murky rape case, and also demanded a sum of Rs. 1 lakh ($0.1 million) from the victim’s family as a fear tactic.

Upon being denied the money, the woman’s husband and father-in-law allegedly damaged their agricultural land and chunked down their produce from papaya trees.

While the boy initially chose to keep mum about the matter fearing social stigma, he eventually sought help from Childline, Rajgarh, and connected with counselor Manish Dangi. He also alerted cops at the local police station about the incident. It was further reported that the boy was struggling with mental health issues which made it really hard to open up about his trauma.

“The boy was under depression after the incident but due to fear of social stigma, he didn’t share his ordeal with anyone. When the woman’s family started harassing his family, the boy gathered the courage of informing us. He is still being counseled by us,” stated Dangi, as reported by Hindustan Times.

A detailed probe was launched, which led to the arrest of the woman’s family members under section 384 (punishment for extortion), and 427 (mischief causing damage) while sections of the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act were also slapped against the accused woman.

There hasn’t been a detailed disclosure of information about the woman, who is aged 35. Nor has it been known as to whether she holds a criminal history.

In another disturbing incident of sorts, an eight-year-old girl was subjected to sexual assault by an Army jawan inside the toilet of a moving train, only to be hurled out of the train near Lonand in Satara district, post the gnawing act.

The police reported that the little girl showed great bravery in the face of crisis. Despite undergoing severe trauma, the girl was able to provide an accurate description of her abuser, which led to a quick arrest within a few hours of the incident on Tuesday.
