Jeffrey Epstein Donald Trump

A former US State attorney has taken to social media to repudiate President Donald Trump's efforts to dismiss the fiasco surrounding files pertaining to disgraced financier Jeffrey Epstein.

Author and lawyer Barbara McQuade, who served as United States Attorney for the Eastern District of Michigan from 2010 to 2017, took to social media to share an article indicating how Trump has repeatedly attempted to blame Democratic leaders for the Epstein files debacle published by The New York Times.

"Trump is trying to transmogrify the Epstein files into a conspiracy by ... wait for it ... Democrats! A master class in gaslighting! Let's monitor this development and see if the MAGA tribe takes the bait," she wrote in her caption alongside the article.

Social media users quickly took to the replies of McQuade's post to launch their own criticisms of the 47th President and agree with her sentiments.

"Trump flipping the Epstein files into a "Democrat conspiracy" is peak gaslighting. Can't wait to see if MAGA swallows it whole. #EpsteinFiles #Gaslighting #PoliticalSpin," wrote one user.

"Prediction: It won't work this time. (full stop)," said another.

"I honestly think there may be a level of gullibility that even Maga can't cross..
Maybe," added a third user.

"And don't forget his favorite "H" word...HOAX!" joked a fourth.

Trump took to his social media platform, Truth Social, on Wednesday morning to dismiss the Epstein client list and other documents his own supporters are encouraging him to release to the public as a "hoax" that was cooked up by Democrats. He further stated that his "PAST supporters" are the only ones to fall for this "scam" "hook, line and sinker".

"Let these weaklings continue forward and do the Democrats work," he wrote, "don't even think about talking of our incredible and unprecedented success, because I don't want their support anymore!"
