For the first time since things have started heating up over at NBC's TODAY Show, co-host Matt Lauer is speaking out.

According to the New York Daily News, Lauer thinks viewers have the "right to complain on Twitter and elsewhere."

"They have an opinion and two thumbs, and that gives them the right to do whatever they want," he told the Daily News. "I'm not on it enough to know. I'm really not. I don't pay enough attention to it."

NBC has been struggling with the ratings decline of its morning program, since the firing of Ann Curry.

ABC News' "Good Morning America" continues its reign on top as it beat NBC's "Today" for the week of Nov. 12.

The win marked "GMA's" largest win in more than 20 years.

According to Nielsen Media Research, GMA is on track to win total viewers and adults 25-54 for the November sweeps.

"GMA" has stood as the morning's No. 1 newscast in Total Viewers for the 8th time in eight weeks this season and in seven of eight weeks in the key adult news demo.

"In ranking No. 1 for the month in Adults 25-54, "GMA" is taking the top spot during any sweeps in the key adult news demo for the first time in more than 18 years - since July 1994," ABC News said in a release. "In addition, "GMA" is leading the November sweep in Total Viewers for the first time in 17 years - since November 1995."

According to a Daily Mail report, management is looking to save the show by pairing Lauer with a male co-host to create a "bromance."

"If you look at Josh Elliott and Sam Champion on Good Morning America, they are really great friends and that shines through on air - not since Matt and Bryant have we seen chemistry like this on morning TV," a source told MailOnline. "On GMA, people know that Sam's getting married, Josh talks all the time about his daughter, they're going through Robin Roberts' illness with her and Lara just doesn't stop talking!"
