Recently during an interview, the President of the U.S. was asked if a mandate should be released to make face covering or mask compulsory for the people when in public.

As expected, Donald Trump replied that he believed masks should not be made mandatory as people should certainly have some freedom in that respect. However, he did give mixed signals claiming that he thinks masks are good but he will not make them compulsory.

He even said that he doesn’t agree with the statement that if everybody wears a mask, the COVID-19 pandemic will go away. Referring to one of the top infectious disease experts in the U.S., Trump said that even Dr. Anthony Fauci said, “don’t wear a mask.”

Reacting to his views, Dr. Jonathan Reiner reacted by saying that he thinks POTUS is simply unteachable.

During an interview shortly conducted after Trumps’ remarks, Reiner was asked if there would be any downsides to a national mask mandate.

Reiner replied by saying that there wouldn’t be any and probably the most important thing that would be there if everyone wears masks is that the huge surge in the number of new coronavirus cases across the U.S. will start to flatten much quicker.

He further said that if Trump issues a national mask mandate today, the country is most likely to open schools and other places in the fall.

Reiner further said that Trump is unteachable and he understands it.

“His failure to understand a simple public health measure, his reluctance to accept the advice of all his public health experts makes me wonder whether he really is a qualified now to manage this,” Reiner said during the interview.

“This is not a sophisticated question where experts differ. There is no difference in opinion about this. And the fact that the President of the United States can’t get this straight, raises serious doubts about his competence now.”

The number of new coronavirus cases is surging across a majority of U.S. states. However, Trump continues to downplay the threat and say that the world is merely jealous of how well American is handling the pandemic.

He even called Fauci “a bit of an alarmist ” but added that both of them share a great relationship.

"The ban on H-1B visas, which are often used to fill very niche positions that are not easily found in the American workforce, will ultimately prove to be counterproductive and is an example of using a nuclear bomb to address a bar fight," said Leon Fresco, a former deputy assistant attorney general in the Obama administration who now represents H-1B workers.
