The world last saw Meghan Markle on television when she bid farewell to her character Rachel Zane in the US legal drama “Suits”, after starring in the role for six years. She was about to marry Prince Harry and becoming a Royal meant that she had to give up on her acting career.

But according to the Queen’s biographer, Sally Bedell Smith, the Duchess of Sussex “really regretted giving up” her professional career for becoming the part of the British Royal as it “didn't compare” to her life as a TV star.

Following Meghan Markle and Prince Harry’s announcement of them stepping down as senior members of the Royal family, the Buckingham Palace has also announced that from the spring the couple will no longer use their HRH titles. While they will be withdrawing from royal duties, they will still be allowed to maintain their private patronages and associations. It is all for the good as apparently Meghan was rather unhappy 'renouncing' her former life for embracing the title of a Royal, as per Sally who has written biographies on senior royals like Princess Diana and Prince Charles.

“It seems now that she really regrets having had to give that up, and what she was expected to do in the royal family didn’t compare with what she had been accustomed to,” she recently shared in a chat with Vanity Fair. While Sally agrees that there were “innumerable advantages and perks” to being in the royal family, but it also meant renouncing “a lot of things that may have meant a lot to you.”

As a member of the Royal family, Meghan could indulge in official duties and charitable work but according to the royal biographer, Meghan “may not have seen it that way” when she married Prince Harry. What she is expected to do as a royal isn’t what she expected when she gave up her professional career, something Meghan “really regrets”.

But looks like she never really gave up on her career

Meghan Markle still has her Hollywood team, including Hollywood agent Nick Collins of The Gersh Agency, in place which is looking after her future prospects in the industry, even though she married into the Royal Family. The couple is getting many lucrative film, TV and philanthropic offers and opportunities, which will allow them to rake in tens of millions of dollars annually. '
