‘Metal Gear Solid’ Fans Suggest Actors To Play Snake Following Oscar Isaac's Bid

“Star Wars: The Last Jedi” star Oscar Isaac has thrown his hat for the role of Solid Snake in the upcoming live-action “Metal Gear Solid” film.

A lot of fans were quick to get on board the idea. They started Photoshopping the actor as Solid Snake to make their case. Sure enough, seeing Isaac in the signature Solid Snake eyepatch and headband showed that he can look the part.

“Metal Gear Solid” director Jordan Vogt-Roberts seems to be up for it too, responding to Isaac’s show of interest. Fans, on the other hand, had a lot to say. Followers of the video game franchise have envisioned the protagonist of the long-running franchise to be played by someone else.

Many of them made alternative suggestions as to who should play the character. They threw in a lot of names, but many of them seem to think that Mads Mikkelsen should play the role. Some even mentioned Hugh Jackman. Christian Bale also got a mention, which is understandable considering he was rumored to play the part when the film was still in early development back in 2011.

The problem with this casting, however, is that the “Metal Gear Solid” movie is expected to focus on a young Solid Snake. The actors might be too old and would be better off as Big Boss, if nothing else.

While there are no details on the actual timeline in which the film will take place, the fact that it is based on a classic iteration of the video game gives the impression that the movie will follow the character’s early days. Even Isaac technically wouldn’t be the right age to pull off the character.

Fans turned to the Marvel Cinematic Universe for other possible Solid Snake actors, pitching Sebastian Stan and even Liam Hemsworth. Chris Evans’ name is also being thrown around.

Some fans just hope that the “Metal Gear Solid” movie will have Kurt Russell as Big Boss with his infamous box office bomb turned cult favorite “Escape From L.A.”

As for Isaac, fans recognize that he does have the nerd creds. He is part of a few major movie franchises, including “Star Wars,” “X-Men” and “Spiderverse.” Many are open to seeing it happen, but does he have the chops to pull off Solid Snake’s stoic and cold exterior?

Isaac has shown his depth as an actor in a slew of movies like “Ex Machina,” “Drive,” “A Most Violent Year” and “Inside Llewyn Davis.” He has proven he can get lost in every character he plays.

Whether or not his bid will score him the starring role in the “Metal Gear Solid” movie, fans will just have to wait and see. Either way, it looks like Vogt-Roberts is open to suggestions.
